Watts Up in Watopia: two other routes
The latest Zwift update (1.21.0) includes two flat routes in the Makuri Islands.
castle to castle starts in Neokyo, loops around Yumezi Castle, then back to Neokyo. The route is 22.4 km (13.9 miles) long and involves 139 m (456′) of climbing with no entry. The route badge will give you 460 bonus XP.
Twilight Harbor is a short loop with Neokyo that will make a nice running course for Meetups and club events (once we all have access to clubs). The course features two sprint banners (Tower & Alley Sprint), making it ideal for a points race format. The route is 6.9 km (4.3 miles) long and has only 33 m (108′) of elevation gain with no entry. The route badge will give you 135 bonus XP.
Add these two routes to your badge hunting to-do list.
If you’re already at level 50, you might be wondering what happens to that bonus XP and maybe you should wait until the level cap is raised again before chasing more badges. I couldn’t find anything official from Zwift on whether or not XP is stored beyond level 50. However, that was true when the level cap was raised from 25 to 50. So there’s a lot to wagering that your accumulated XP above level 50 will be applied after the cap is raised. It would be a hell of a ride if it wasn’t.

Monday Group race 100/100, 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Join us for a group run on the May Field virtual track that will kick off your week. Join others working on the Slowtwitch Challenge of 100 3-mile or 30-minute runs in 100 days. Remember that each of the five driving workouts and five running workouts has a short and long option. Rather than canceling a workout when you run out of time, you can complete the short version while enjoying the benefits of the program.
Tuesday Ride of the Valkryies Workout (women only), 6:00 a.m.
This event is by and for women. This is a near no-drop structured rubber band workout workout that includes a warm-up, set of intervals, and a cool-down. This week’s workout is Fast Legs / Slow Legs.
Tuesday structured training, 7:00 p.m.
Our Tuesday ride features triathlon-focused cycling workouts written by professional coaches and athletes affiliated with Slowtwitch. Workouts are 60 minutes long and will help add variety and interest to your weekly training schedule. This week’s workout is Peaks & Valleys.
Wednesday group race, 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
A more scenic group ran on the Quatch Quest course. This is another opportunity to join others working on the Slowtwitch Challenge of 100 3-mile or 30-minute runs in 100 days.
Thursday Rise & Grind, 5:35 a.m.
This workout is a morning shuffle for the East Coast crowd. This week’s workout is Up or Down?
Thursday SWIFT Ride, 6:55 p.m.
The newest ride in the Slowtwitch Indoors family, Slowtwitch SWIFT (Strong Women, It’s Fun Together!) is here to bring another women-only ride into a slightly friendlier time slot. This hike will focus a bit more on strength-based work, so bring those climbing legs. But even if you feel more like Mark Cavendish in the Tour de France mountains, as long as you keep pedaling, you will stay with our group. This week’s workout is Minutes of Power.
Friday Festina Slow, 9:00 a.m.
This structured workout is designed to get you ready for the weekend. Roughly translated as “make haste, slow,” Festina Lente offers a workout that will rev your engine while leaving some in the tank for those big races and races you have planned for the weekend. This hike is led by members of the Kanberra cycling team as the main beacon. This week’s workout is Threshold Intervals.
