Top 5 fastest bikes under Rs 3.5 lakh: KTM, Kawasaki, Royal Enfield and more

About ten years ago, there was a time when a motorbike priced at or above Rs 1 lakh produced immense astonishment for those who asked “kitne ki hai?” (how much does it cost?). Now however times have changed, the Indian motorcycle market has come a long way beyond just chasing fuel efficiency numbers. Performance, power, speed and handling took center stage. And a lot can happen within a budget of Rs 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom) or less. Here we list five motorcycles that are worth spending.
KTMRC 390
This KTM supersport makes it into the top five list quite frequently. For a long time, the RC 390 had no direct rival on the market due to the level of performance it offered and the price at which it was offered. It is powered by a 373cc single-cylinder engine that develops 44hp and 37Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. It promises a top speed of 170 km/h. Price: Rs 3.14 lakh (ex-showroom)
Kawasaki Ninja 300

The Ninja 300 is powered by a 296cc parallel-twin engine that develops 39bhp and 26.1Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. With a smaller engine (than the Rc 390) comes a smaller top speed of 160 km/h. Price: Rs 3.37 lakh (ex-showroom)

Apache TV RR 310

If the budget does not allow an additional amount for registration and RTO insurance of more than Rs 3 lakh, the Apache RR 310 is a fully developed sports bike available at Rs 3 lakh (on-road). It is powered by a 312.2cc single-cylinder engine developing 34hp and 27.3Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The Apache also promises a top speed of 160 km/h.
Royal Enfield Continental GT 650

Taking things from the classic side of the spectrum, the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 delivers 47bhp and 52Nm of torque from its 648cc parallel-twin engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. The Conti promises a top speed equivalent to the KTM 390 at around 169 km/h. Price: Rs 3.05 lakh (ex-showroom)
KTM 390 Duke

Granted 390 duke and RC 390 have the same engine specs, but the personalities are two sides of a coin. While the RC is a supersport-style bike that needs the rider to stay tied to the stance at all times, the Duke offers a streetfighter-style stance that’s relaxed a lot with an upright seating position and wide handlebars. Price: Rs 2.94 lakh (ex-showroom)
