Offaly Sports Partnership announces grant schemes



Cllr Robert McDermott, Chairman, Offaly Sports Partnership, this week launched two grant schemes for sports clubs and organizations in Offaly.

The first device concerns the resumption of sporting activity; and this fund will be made available to support the return to sport and physical activity after the pandemic. Please note that this is a restricted fund; and is only open to the following clubs and organisations:-

I. affiliated with the following national sport governing bodies recognized by Sport Ireland based in Offaly – Angling Council of Ireland, Badminton Ireland, Irish Wheelchair Association Sport, Motor Cycling Ireland, National Coarse Fishing Federation, National Community Games, Pitch & Putt Ireland, Snooker & Billiards Ireland, Table Tennis Ireland, Tennis Ireland, Trout Anglers Association of Ireland, Tug of War Ireland and Volleyball Ireland

ii. clubs/organizations in Offaly which cater to special interest groups whose main activity is sports-related (Community centers based in Offaly and similar organizations are included in this categorization provided they operate as a purpose non-profit)

The maximum level of financial support per successful application will be €1,500. The grant may be used for costs associated with the return to sport activity, including the purchase of non-personal training equipment, return to sport programs, programs reaching target groups of the Offaly Sports Partnership ( including the elderly, people with disabilities, people of an ethnic minority including Travellers, the rural or urban disadvantaged, the unemployed/underemployed, women and girls and young people at risk ), promotion and marketing costs, some essential running costs including insurance and membership, Covid consumables, volunteer support etc.

· only one application can be submitted per sports club / organization

Applications for funding should be submitted by noon on Sunday, April 24, 2022 via the application form link as listed here, https://submit.link/NT

The second program is a club development grant program; and this grant program is designed to support:-

I. medium and long term club planning

ii. education and training programs

iii. initiatives designed to increase the participation of underrepresented groups

(including older people, people with disabilities, people from ethnic minorities, including Travellers, rural or urban disadvantaged people, the unemployed/underemployed, women and girls and youth at risk) in sport

iv. purchase of non-personal training equipment to support return to sport programs

applications can only be accepted from Offaly-based affiliates of a national sport governing body recognized by Sport Ireland

· only one application can be submitted per sports club; and the application must adhere to at least one of the four objectives of the grant program

Launching the schemes, Councilor Mc Dermott said: “Offaly Sports Partnership is delighted to launch these Co Offaly sports club grant schemes. Although Sport Partnership funding is limited, we nevertheless encourage clubs to apply.”
