Jewish Family Service acknowledges Earth Day agency partners with Geoscape Solar to reduce carbon footprint

For more than 50 years, Earth Day has been celebrated to raise awareness of the environment, conservation and climate change.
Originally developed as a popular demonstration to expand knowledge about toxic drinking water, air pollution and the effects of pesticides, Earth Day has grown into a platform that encompasses all aspects of our environment, including energy.
“At the Jewish Family Service, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint through the solar power system. In 2018, JFS partnered with Geoscape Solar to install panels on the roof of the Margate office building, which would ultimately help reduce our energy needs. Not only would this company benefit the planet by building a more sustainable future, it would also allow JFS to reduce the agency’s operating expenses, ”said Andrea Steinberg, CEO of JFS.
In the years following installation, JFS’s climate contribution produced 157,000 hours of clean energy, reduced 121 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere, allowed the planting of 1,800 trees, and equates to 280,000 kilometers of vehicles driven outside. of the road.
Today, every person can make a difference by doing their part to save the planet. Consider these ideas – ditch paper towels and use a tea towel, donate used clothes to thrift stores instead of throwing them away, drink tap water from a reusable mug instead of a water bottle, make bike or walk to work instead of driving, or even install solar panels on your home.
In honor of Earth Day, Geoscape Solar founders Michael Boches, Jeffrey Chavkin and Lee Watson presented a virtual film and conversation event on April 22 on climate change and the role of solar energy in climate change. reduction of carbon emissions and the economy.
