Does your group or club share € 104,000 in funding from Donegal Sports Partnership? – Daily Donegal

A total of 100 clubs, groups and organizations in Donegal have received € 104,000 under the Covid-19 Return to Sport funding program.

Donegal Sports Partnership (DSP), with support from Sport Ireland and the Irish government, announced the approval of sport club and community funding allocations this afternoon (Tuesday).

The small grants are intended to support sports clubs and community organizations in their efforts to provide sport and physical activity in parallel with the Covid-19 pandemic. The approved funding is intended to cover additional costs such as sports and disinfection equipment, site rentals, training and education, and community engagement programs.

Welcoming the funding award, Donegal Sports Partnership Coordinator Myles Sweeney thanked clubs and community groups for taking the time to complete the online application forms.

“Approximately 160 applications were received in the three funding streams for sports clubs, community organizations and coach / volunteer support. To date, around 100,000 € has been awarded, which represents a significant investment for grassroots sport. We hope that a new funding round for clubs and communities will be presented in early 2022, ”said Mr. Sweeney.

Responding to the latest funding announcement, Donegal Sports Partnership Board Chair Anne McAteer thanked DSP directors and staff for their time and dedication to community sport and physical activity in 2021.

“Investing funds in our communities is essential to maintain and support sport in Donegal, and to ensure that our communities can continue to enjoy the benefits of sport and physical activity,” commented Ms. McAteer.

The DSP President also recognized the challenges for sport and physical activity in the region, and the significant impact of the pandemic on volunteering and sport leadership.

Earlier this month, DSP received additional funding of € 98,200 to support the continued return to community support and physical activity.
